Best Wishes delivered from Santa Claus, Finland
FedEx's Asia Europe Network Disseminating Season's Greetings Worldwide
TAIPEI, December 24, 2002 - With
Christmas just around the corner, express delivery has been in
particularly high demand. With Round-The-World flights connecting Asia
and Europe, FedEx has been selected by the Sogo Dept. Store as the best
choice for shipping customers' Christmas cards between Taiwan and Santa
Claus Post in Finland, Northern Europe.
Sogo Dept. Store has collected 1450 Christmas cards from customers
through Dec.1-7 and FedEx has delivered those cards to "Rovaniemi" in
Finland, hometown of Santa, on Dec. 11. These cards have been stamped
by Santa and shipped back to Taiwan over the weekend with FedEx's
Asia-Europe express service to be distributed to designated recipients
on Christmas Eve.
During this holiday season, demand for small package delivery has
always soared. J.D.Powers & Associates, an ISO 9001-registered
global marketing information services firm, has conducted a study on
U.S. business customers regarding small package delivery. And FedEx
sweeps customers satisfaction awards. FedEx ranks highest in business
customer satisfaction, not only in air and international delivery
categories, but in ground delivery as well. FedEx performs particularly
well in the areas of shipping and delivery, value, invoicing, and
driver relationships.
FedEx's enhanced westbound Round-The-World flight connects the three
major economic bodies: North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, by
directly connecting FedEx's Transshipment Center in Taiwan and AsiaOne
hub in Subic Bay, the Philippines to its EuroOne hub at Charles de
Galle in Paris, via Bombay and Dubai. The service enables FedEx to
offer later cut-off times for shipments to Europe, and earlier flight
arrivals at CDG by four hours, providing more extensive connectivity to
various European destinations for Asian shippers.
FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., connects areas that
generate 90% of the world's gross domestic product in 24-48 hours with
door-to-door and customs-cleared service. The company's unmatched air
route authorities and infrastructure make it the world's largest
express transportation company, providing fast, reliable and
time-definite transportation of more than 3.3 million items to 211
countries each working day. FedEx employs approximately 143,500
employees and has more than 45,800 drop-off locations, 640 aircraft and
more than 45,000 vehicles in its integrated global network.
