FedEx Express appoints new Managing Director in Thailand

Bangkok, June 2, 2003 - FedEx Express, the world largest express transportation company, has appointed Clifton Chua as managing director of FedEx Express, Thailand, Philippines & Indochina, effective from June 1, 2003.

Mr. Clifton will succeed Rhicke S. Jennings, who will take an executive position in Australia.

Peter Yin, Regional Vice President of the South Pacific region, said, "Mr. Rhicke has made great strides for FedEx and has led the team in Thailand to many successes. He played a key role in leading FedEx to be recognized as the best employer in Thailand at the prestigious Best Employer in Asia Awards 2001. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his tremendous contributions to the company and wish him all the best for the future with the company in Australia."

Mr. Clifton Chua brings to his appointment more than eight years of experience in the air express transportation industry. Based in Bangkok, he will be responsible for business and operational matters for Thailand, the Philippines and Indochina. He will generate and implement local strategies to continue FedEx's successful growth in the region, addressing the needs of each individual market.

"We are delighted to have Mr. Clifton lead the team in Thailand. His in-depth industry knowledge and extensive experience with FedEx within the region will play a vital role in establishing Bangkok as a regional air transportation hub in the near future," said Mr. Yin.

Prior to his new appointment, Mr Clifton served as Managing Director of FedEx Express for Singapore and Indonesia. He oversaw major service improvements for FedEx in both locations, including the development of premier facilities such as the high-tech Changi South package sorting operation in Singapore.

Most recently, he led FedEx Singapore to be recognized as the Best Employer in Singapore 2003.

Mr. Clifton joined FedEx in 1995 as a financial analyst. He has also held a number of key positions including senior financial analyst and regional manager.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore. He has also held the ranks of Platoon Commander and Battalion Deputy Manpower Officer, SAF, during his tenure in Singapore's National Service.
